About the YIU
EASO’s Young Investigators United (YIU) programme aims to facilitate the networking of young European scientists and to provide an arena for the exchange of ideas and best practices between experts and experts-to-come. This will promote and improve opportunities for future collaborations or consultations when heading for the common goal: preventing and treating obesity.
YIU held its first meeting during the 14th ECO in 2005 and over 65 participants from 13 different European countries attended and we will also organise a YIU workshop and social event during the ECO2008.
There is no fee to become a member – you just need to be 35 under (although we are not strict about this criteria!) and a member of EASO.
If you would like to receive further information regarding YIU or to become a member, please email yiu@easoobesity.org or visit the EASO website.

Five Travel Grants of up to 2000€ each are available to young investigators who are basic scientists, clinical researchers or allied health professionals, who would otherwise be precluded from attending the 16th ECO in Geneva for financial reasons. The grants will assist with accommodation, travel and registration costs of attending the ECO and will also provide a subsistence allowance.
To be eligible to apply for a Travel Grant, you must:
* Be 35 years or younger at the time of the congress (i.e. born after 18th May 1972);
* Have carried out your work in Europe; and
* Be a member of an EASO affiliated national obesity association.
The Travel Grants are supported by a donation from sanofi-aventis.
